Premiere Screening of New Jersey Network Documentary Film:
”The Italian Americans in New Jersey – A Legacy of Achievement”
Monday, September 26, 2005
La Villa, Mountain Lakes, NJ
The Foundation has co-sponsored with New Jersey Network (NJN) a new documentary on the achievements of Italian Americans in New Jersey, created in an effort to showcase the positive contributions of New Jersey’s Italian Americans. Directed by Emmy Award-winning NJN producer Louis Presti, the half-hour film takes a fresh look at the state’s largest ethnic group through interviews, historical film and current footage.
The premiere screening of this new documentary will take place on Monday, September 26, at a fund-raising event at La Villa in Mountain Lakes, and will feature fine Italian cuisine and regional wine selections. Attendees will have the opportunity to meet the director, members of the movie production team, and many of the people featured in the film. Individual tickets are available at $250; tables for ten at $2500 include a quarter- page advertisement in the commemorative journal and a company or organization sign if desired.
Sponsorships are available for the film at prices ranging from $100,000 to $5000: your company’s name and logo can appear in the film during the opening and/or closing credits. These logos will be permanently included in the film and in the subsequent DVD which will be released after the premiere broadcast. The DVDs will be made available to Italian American organizations, the public school systems, universities and the general public.

Development of Statewide Cultural Center
As part of its collaboration with the Commission and the Institute, the Foundation has initiated the development of a geographically centralized, statewide cultural center for the promotion of Italian and Italian American heritage in New Jersey. The center, known as the "New Jersey Casa Italiana," is being designed and developed in conjunction with Rutgers University and will be situated on the College Avenue campus in New Brunswick. The center will have exhibition halls, a library and records center, offices for the Commission, the Institute, the Rutgers Italian Studies Department and the Rutgers Department of Italian, and other facilities. The Casa Italiana is a multi-year development project and is anticipated to open in 2007.
